Compost Classes for 3-6 Graders!

The early bird gets the worm! So we are starting our composting classes in the MORNING this time around. Classes start at 7:30am and will go until 8:10am. We will make sure that your child gets to their school class on time. We will meet in the garden area (next to the soccer field). If it is raining, please meet in front of the library.

*Note to Leadership Team, please be at classes at 7:15am to prep.

Here is a brief syllabus of what we will be learning:

Wednesday, January 28: Learn how to compost by combining carbon and nitrogen sources.

Wednesday, February 4: Discover vermicomposting (worms!)

Wednesday, February 11: Analyze our compost to determine how to optimize decomposition.

Wednesday, February 18: Create a short film about composting to share with our school community.

To RSVP, please email us at camarenagarden@gmail.com.

The first 20 students are in!

Garden Club Application

Got questions? Here are some answers to some commonly asked questions:

Do we have to print the application or can we just email it to you? Please save a tree and email it to us if you would rather, but students still need parent permission and also teacher approval. Parents and teachers can email us, too!
Contact us: camarenagarden@gmail.com

Who can be in Garden Club? Everyone! The important thing to remember is that students must have parent permission to attend the meetings and the proper transportation arrangements made. *ALL TK-2 STUDENTS MUST HAVE A PARENT/GUARDIAN PRESENT AT EACH MEETING.*

What does Garden Club do? Garden Club will be learning about all of the things that make a successful garden beginning with the soil! Garden Club will be planting seeds, helping to maintain the garden, and having lots of fun.

When or how often do we meet? Garden Club will meet once or twice a month beginning after Winter Break. Once the Garden is built, we may meet more often. Meetings will be held both before school and after school during certain seasons.

Where do we get more information? This blog is a good start. You can also talk to any of the Leadership Team members.

Why join Garden Club? Because we believe in creating a culture of good soil, good stewardship of the land, and good food for the entire community, and who doesn’t like that?
